Job description

Vice President & General Manager – Electrical Construction

Location: Florida
Industry: Commercial Electrical Construction
Employment Type: Full-Time | Executive Leadership

The Opportunity

Delta Construction Partners is seeking an accomplished Vice President & General Manager of Electrical Construction for a confidential client in Florida.

This is a senior executive opportunity for an entrepreneurial electrical construction leader who wants to do more than manage an existing operation. The selected executive will have the authority and responsibility to build, lead, and grow a commercial electrical contracting business, with ownership of strategy, operations, financial performance, people, and market expansion.

The Vice President & General Manager will assume leadership of an established electrical operation with existing customers, field capabilities, and organizational resources already in place. The mandate is to develop the business into a scalable, highly profitable electrical contracting platform positioned for significant long-term growth.

This is not a traditional department-management position. The successful candidate will operate with significant autonomy and full P&L responsibility, while working directly with executive leadership.

For the right leader, this position offers substantial long-term advancement potential as the Electrical Division grows.

Key Responsibilities

P&L & Business Leadership

  • Own the financial and operational performance of the Electrical Division.

  • Lead revenue, gross margin, EBITDA, backlog, forecasting, working capital, and annual business planning.

  • Establish financial targets, operating KPIs, and accountability throughout the organization.

  • Evaluate project opportunities and make disciplined decisions regarding markets, customers, project selection, and risk.

  • Build and execute a long-term strategic plan for profitable growth.

Growth & Business Development

  • Develop and execute the division's commercial electrical growth strategy.

  • Expand owner-direct relationships and develop new sources of recurring business.

  • Build relationships with owners, general contractors, mechanical contractors, engineers, developers, and other strategic partners.

  • Establish a repeatable business-development process capable of supporting substantial future growth.

  • Identify opportunities to enter additional Florida markets as the organization scales.

Estimating & Preconstruction

  • Establish disciplined estimating and preconstruction processes.

  • Oversee bid strategy, project selection, pricing, scope review, and contract evaluation.

  • Ensure estimates appropriately account for labor, material, schedule, scope, commercial terms, and project risk.

  • Develop estimating capabilities capable of supporting increasingly larger and more complex projects.

Operations & Project Execution

  • Provide executive oversight of electrical construction operations from preconstruction through project closeout.

  • Establish scalable processes for project handoff, procurement, labor planning, scheduling, change management, billing, collections, quality control, and closeout.

  • Drive consistent project execution, margin protection, customer communication, and accountability.

  • Identify operational risks early and implement corrective action when necessary.

Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Lead, develop, and strengthen the existing electrical organization.

  • Recruit and retain high-performing project managers, estimators, superintendents, field leaders, and business-development professionals.

  • Build a leadership structure capable of supporting substantial revenue growth.

  • Establish clear expectations, performance metrics, and accountability throughout the division.

  • Develop future leaders and reduce organizational dependence on any single individual.

Electrical Service

  • Develop and expand electrical service capabilities to create recurring revenue and deeper customer relationships.

  • Build a balanced business consisting of service, owner-direct, negotiated, and strategically selected project work.

  • Identify opportunities to convert construction relationships into long-term service partnerships.

Safety & Culture

  • Establish a strong culture of safety, accountability, craftsmanship, responsiveness, and operational excellence.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards, company policies, and electrical construction requirements.

  • Create an environment where strong performers can develop, advance, and build long-term careers.

Qualifications

  • Significant progressive leadership experience within commercial electrical contracting.

  • Previous experience as a Vice President, General Manager, Division Manager, Branch Manager, Director of Operations, Operations Manager, or comparable electrical construction leadership role.

  • Demonstrated experience managing a P&L, business unit, branch, division, or significant electrical construction operation.

  • Strong understanding of electrical estimating, preconstruction, project management, field operations, labor planning, procurement, change orders, billing, and construction risk.

  • Proven ability to improve revenue, margins, profitability, operational performance, and organizational accountability.

  • Experience building teams, developing leaders, and creating scalable operating processes.

  • Strong commercial instincts with the ability to develop and maintain senior-level customer relationships.

  • Experience overseeing commercial electrical projects of meaningful size and complexity.

  • Ability to operate autonomously while collaborating effectively with executive leadership.

  • High level of integrity, business judgment, leadership presence, and financial acumen.

  • Florida electrical construction experience is highly desirable; experience in other high-growth Southeast markets will also be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience growing or leading an electrical contracting operation materially larger than the business initially inherited.

  • Experience developing new markets, branches, divisions, or service lines.

  • Existing relationships within the Florida commercial construction market.

  • Electrical license, trade background, or relevant technical credentials.

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.

A college degree is not required. Proven leadership, business results, and electrical contracting experience will carry greater weight than academic credentials.

What Success Looks Like

The successful executive will create a unified, scalable Electrical Division with:

  • Clear operational and financial accountability.

  • Consistent and profitable revenue growth.

  • Strong gross margins, cash conversion, and project execution.

  • Disciplined estimating, project selection, and risk management.

  • An expanding mix of owner-direct, service, and strategically selected project opportunities.

  • A strong leadership bench capable of supporting significant future growth.

  • Repeatable systems and processes that allow the business to scale across multiple markets.

  • A reputation for safety, quality, responsiveness, and execution.

Why This Opportunity?

This role offers the rare combination of entrepreneurial freedom and established organizational support.

Rather than starting a business from scratch, the incoming executive will inherit an operating foundation while having the authority to shape its strategy, team, systems, customer base, and future direction.

For an electrical construction executive who has successfully run a business unit and wants the opportunity to build something substantially larger, this position offers significant autonomy, executive visibility, and long-term career growth.
