Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of professional respiratory therapy experience required
• Adult ICU or critical-care experience required
• Respiratory Therapist certification or credential appropriate for practice in Massachusetts
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential preferred
• At least 3 years of critical-care or acute-care experience preferred
• Demonstrated mechanical ventilator management experience required
• Neonatal respiratory care experience preferred
• Emergency department experience preferred
• Strong teamwork, communication, and clinical decision-making skills
• Ability to remain effective in a fast-paced, high-acuity hospital environment

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive respiratory care to adult patients in hospital, acute-care, and critical-care settings
• Manage and monitor mechanical ventilation while adjusting therapy according to patient condition and clinical orders
• Assess respiratory status, interpret clinical findings, and communicate changes to the care team
• Deliver respiratory treatments and support airway management procedures
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
• Respond effectively to urgent and emergent respiratory needs, including those arising in the emergency department
• Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and respiratory equipment checks accurately
• Promote safe, compassionate, and evidence-based respiratory care throughout the assignment
