Certified Nursing Assistant Requirements

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
• Two years of bedside clinical experience highly desired
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Ability to perform patient care tasks safely and effectively for the assigned patient population
• Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and clinical documentation skills
• Commitment to patient privacy, infection prevention, workplace safety, and established facility policies
• Ability to work scheduled 12-hour night shifts and maintain reliable attendance

CNA Patient Care Responsibilities

• Provide routine personal care and bedside support under the general supervision of a Registered Nurse
• Assist with activities of daily living, safe patient handling, mobility, positioning, and comfort measures
• Observe patients, communicate changes or concerns promptly, and document care provided accurately
• Follow safe patient-handling practices and identify, report, and help prevent workplace hazards
• Support infection-control practices and comply with HIPAA, Joint Commission, and departmental standards
• Assist patients with meal selections in accordance with prescribed diets, allergies, sensitivities, and preferences
• Prepare, deliver, and retrieve patient menus and nourishment items while verifying current diet orders
• Communicate patient-care and nutrition-related concerns to the appropriate department
• Participate in team meetings, in-services, and other activities that support quality patient care
• Perform additional patient-care, clerical, and service-support duties as assigned
