Inpatient Pharmacist Travel Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,490–$2,670
• Location: Boone, North Carolina
• Healthcare Setting: Inpatient hospital pharmacy
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel pharmacist contract
• Start Date: November 9, 2026
• End Date: February 8, 2027
• Openings: 2
• Schedule: Day shifts, typically four shifts per week; approximately 40 hours per week
• Shift Duration: 10-hour day shifts
• Shift Timing: Weekday coverage with times varying; shifts will not extend past 9:00 p.m.
• Orientation: 16 hours

Hospital Pharmacist Job Requirements

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required
• At least 1 year of inpatient hospital pharmacy experience required
• Current license to practice pharmacy in North Carolina, or a multistate license with clear licensure status
• Recent experience with Epic required
• Strong knowledge of medication safety, medication order verification, medication reconciliation, and inpatient pharmacy practice
• Prior experience with pharmacist-to-dose protocols preferred
• Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, residents, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team
• Current professional references and required credentials must be available for consideration

Inpatient Pharmacy Responsibilities

• Verify medication orders for appropriate therapy, allergies, drug interactions, and drug-disease interactions
• Review home medications against medication reconciliation reports and identify potential discrepancies
• Use pharmacist-to-dose protocols and consult with prescribers and healthcare teammates when clinically appropriate
• Check intravenous admixtures for accuracy, quality, and patient safety in accordance with USP 797 and USP 800 standards
• Provide responsive, professional customer service to healthcare teammates in person and by telephone
• Support safe and efficient medication distribution within the hospital
• Document clinical interventions and pharmacy activities accurately in Epic
• Participate in a collaborative 24-hour hospital pharmacy operation
