Job description

Urologic Oncologist (Academic) — Robotic / Minimally Invasive — NJ (Just Outside Philadelphia)

Join an Expanding Urologic Oncology Program With Strong Robotics Access and Academic Opportunity

A large, well-established academic health system in New Jersey (just outside of Philadelphia) is hiring a full-time, fellowship-trained Urologic Oncologic Surgeon to join an expanding, team-based Division of Urology. This is an opportunity to build a robust oncologic practice with strong infrastructure, modern technology, and meaningful options for teaching and investigator-initiated research in a collaborative academic environment.

The Opportunity
This is a clinically active role with a strong emphasis on robotic and minimally invasive urologic oncology, with a balanced schedule across clinic and OR.
You will:
  • Provide comprehensive surgical care for genitourinary malignancies (major and minor procedures involving the abdomen, pelvis, retroperitoneum; prostate, bladder, kidney/adrenal, testis, penile, and ureteral cancers)
  • Perform robotic/minimally invasive surgery and manage urgent/emergent urologic oncology needs as required
  • Evaluate patients, review medical history/exams/imaging, determine surgical necessity, and select the appropriate operative approach
  • Provide consultation and surgical assistance to other physicians and surgeons when needed
  • Educate trainees (medical students, residents, fellows) based on your interest level and service needs
  • Participate in investigator-initiated research and/or basic/translational collaboration with department scientists
Practice model & resources:
  • Typical schedule: ~2 days clinic / 2 days OR (they try to avoid half-day splits; ~50/50 overall)
  • Robotics + tech-forward environment: 3 robots system-wide (meaningful urology utilization) with continued investment in advanced technologies/procedures
  • Support: 7 APPs, dedicated urology RNs, plus LPN/MA support
  • Call: approximately 1 weekend every 7–8 weeks (scheduled month-to-month)
Requirements
Required:
  • MD/DO
  • Completion of an accredited Urology residency
  • Fellowship training in Urologic Oncology with an emphasis on robotic/minimally invasive surgery
  • ABU board eligible/board certified
  • Must have or be able to obtain a New Jersey medical license prior to start
Preferred:
  • Demonstrated excellence in patient care plus active interest in clinical research and/or education
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-based academic environment
Compensation & Benefits
  • Highly competitive compensation that can range up to ~$685k depending on years of experience (plus comprehensive benefits)
  • First 2 years: straight salary, then RVU-based bonus potential
  • Incentives based on billed work (not collections)
  • Comprehensive benefits package
