In this hospital-based social work role, you will support patients and families navigating depression, psychosis, substance use, and other significant mental health challenges across a variety of care settings. LCSW Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,633–$1,814
• Location: Oakland, California
• Healthcare Setting: On-site behavioral health environment
• Start Date: November 9, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13-week contract
• Schedule: 5 shifts per week
• Shift Duration: 8-hour shifts
• Regular Shifts: Tuesday through Friday, 12:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Sunday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• Days Off: Monday and Saturday

Behavioral Health Social Worker Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience providing behavioral health or hospital-based social work services
• Active California licensure as an LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, or Licensed Psychologist
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current CPI certification, or willingness to complete CPI training during orientation
• Strong patient assessment, crisis intervention, communication, and care coordination skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams

Licensed Clinical Social Worker Responsibilities

• Assess patients struggling with depression, psychosis, substance use, and other significant mental illnesses to help determine the appropriate level of care
• Complete comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments for patients of all ages and in a variety of care settings
• Provide crisis intervention, short-term counseling, emotional support, and psychoeducation
• Connect patients and families with community resources and appropriate follow-up services
• Support transition-of-care and discharge planning in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
• Assist patients with adjustment to illness and facilitate goals-of-care conversations with patients and families
• Provide consultation regarding psychosocial needs as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team
• Serve as a liaison to community programs and assist with continuity of care
• Facilitate support groups or provide education to staff and other healthcare departments as needed
• Practice independently while maintaining a patient-centered, compassionate approach
