Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,840–$1,940
• Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week
• Shift: 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Scheduling: Rotating weekends and holidays; block scheduling is not available
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
• Typical Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:5 on days and nights, and up to 1:6 on weekends
• Electronic Charting: MEDITECH experience required

Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license in Maryland or an active compact RN license in hand at the time of submission
• At least 2 years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Proficiency independently interpreting cardiac rhythms and managing dysrhythmias
• Recent experience with MEDITECH electronic health record charting
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, and time-management skills
• Comfort caring for diverse adult and geriatric patients with complex medical and post-operative needs
• Ability to work rotating weekends and holidays and maintain punctual attendance

Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with medical, surgical, and post-operative conditions.
• Manage patients with diagnoses such as COPD, pneumonia, urology post-operative conditions, cellulitis, gastrointestinal bleeding, dementia, colitis, sickle cell disease, urinary tract infections, sepsis, small bowel obstructions, and pancreatitis.
• Perform focused and comprehensive nursing assessments, identify changes in patient condition, and escalate concerns appropriately.
• Interpret cardiac rhythms and provide telemetry monitoring and management of dysrhythmias.
• Administer medications, blood products, oxygen therapy, and prescribed treatments safely.
• Provide care for central lines, PICC lines, peripheral IVs, chest tubes, surgical drains, feeding tubes, wound vacuums, and other specialized equipment.
• Support patients requiring BiPAP/CPAP, renal failure management, seizure precautions, isolation precautions, and substance-withdrawal monitoring.
• Deliver pre-operative and post-operative nursing care while coordinating with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Participate in daily huddles and multidisciplinary rounds to promote safe, coordinated patient care.
• Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care plans accurately in MEDITECH.
• Educate patients and families and contribute to discharge planning and continuity of care.
