Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent full-time-equivalent registered nursing experience
• Recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience strongly preferred
• At least 1 year of recent high-risk Labor & Delivery experience preferred
• Active Registered Nurse license valid in California
• Basic Life Support certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification
• Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation certification or equivalent neonatal resuscitation training
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program
• Maternal Child Health or comparable obstetric nursing experience preferred
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing or related degree preferred

Labor & Delivery Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to patients throughout labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period
• Perform comprehensive maternal and fetal assessments and promptly communicate changes in patient condition
• Monitor fetal heart rate patterns, labor progression, and maternal vital signs
• Support patients and families through routine, complex, and high-risk obstetric situations
• Administer medications, treatments, and interventions in accordance with clinical standards and provider orders
• Assist with emergency interventions and coordinate care during obstetric complications
• Collaborate with obstetric providers, anesthesia, neonatal teams, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
• Provide patient education related to labor, delivery, newborn care, and recovery
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and support continuity of care during handoffs
