Labor & Delivery Travel Nurse Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent full-time equivalent nursing experience completed within the last 3 years
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state where care is provided
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Maternal-child health Registered Nurse preparation or experience
• One year of high-risk Labor & Delivery experience within the last 2 years is preferred
• High-risk obstetric nursing experience is preferred
• A bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field and five or more years of recent Labor & Delivery experience are preferred

Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to laboring patients, postpartum patients, and newborns
• Monitor maternal and fetal status and promptly communicate changes to the interdisciplinary care team
• Support patients and families throughout labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period
• Assist with the management of routine and high-risk obstetric patients according to established clinical standards
• Administer medications and treatments, maintain accurate documentation, and evaluate patient responses
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, anesthesia personnel, and other members of the maternal-child health team
• Respond effectively to urgent and emergent maternal or neonatal situations
• Promote patient education, comfort, safety, and continuity of care throughout the delivery experience
