Hospital Dietary Services Job Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 6 months of related food service, hospital dietary services, hospitality, or customer service experience
• Food and Nutrition Services certification or training, as required for the assignment
• Ability to follow food safety, sanitation, infection prevention, and workplace safety procedures
• Ability to work on your feet, lift or carry food service supplies, and perform frequent bending, reaching, and walking
• Strong communication, teamwork, reliability, and attention to detail
• Required COVID-19 and influenza vaccination, subject to applicable medical or religious exemptions

Food Service Worker Responsibilities

• Prepare, assemble, portion, and deliver meals and beverages according to established menus and patient dietary instructions
• Provide courteous and timely meal service to patients, visitors, and hospital staff
• Verify meal trays for accuracy, completeness, temperature, and presentation before delivery
• Collect trays, clean and sanitize food service areas and equipment, and maintain an organized dietary services workspace
• Stock food, beverages, utensils, and other hospital dietary supplies while monitoring inventory levels
• Follow applicable food handling, sanitation, infection prevention, and patient privacy standards
• Communicate food service concerns or special meal requests to the appropriate dietary team members
