Hospital Cook Job Details

• Location: Cleveland, OH
• Healthcare Setting: Hospital dietary services
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $560–$600
• Start Date: November 23, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 8-hour day shifts
• Shift Hours: 10:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Friday through Sunday
• Orientation: 16 hours

Hospital Food Service Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 6 months of related food service, hospital kitchen, or cooking experience
• Food and Nutrition Services certification or demonstrated knowledge of healthcare food service practices
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, meal preparation, temperature control, and proper food handling
• Ability to follow recipes, therapeutic diet instructions, menus, and established kitchen procedures
• Ability to work scheduled weekend shifts and remain on your feet for extended periods
• Strong attention to detail, dependability, and teamwork skills

Hospital Cook Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals, sides, and other food items according to recipes, menus, and therapeutic dietary guidelines
• Portion, plate, label, and distribute patient and staff meals accurately and efficiently
• Follow food safety, sanitation, temperature-control, and infection-prevention procedures
• Support meal preparation for patients and hospital staff while accommodating applicable dietary restrictions
• Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked hospital kitchen and food preparation area
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly
• Assist with inventory rotation, food storage, and minimizing food waste
• Collaborate with dietary services team members to promote timely, accurate, and high-quality meal service
