Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Plattsburgh, NY

Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in New York
• At least 1 year of recent clinical experience in cardiac stepdown, progressive care, intermediate care, or a comparable telemetry nursing setting
• Current BLS certification
• Current ACLS certification
• Demonstrated telemetry nursing and cardiac monitoring proficiency
• Experience caring for patients requiring frequent assessment, advanced monitoring, and minimally titrated cardiac or vasoactive infusions
• Ability to care for patients with complex medical and cardiac conditions, including heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, and post-cardiac catheterization needs
• Willingness to float to appropriate units and participate as part of the resource float team
• Prior travel nursing experience is preferred but not required

Progressive Care RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients in an acute inpatient Progressive Care Unit
• Monitor and manage patients with acute coronary syndrome, heart failure, cardiac diagnoses, hypotension, and hemodynamic instability
• Care for patients receiving telemetry, insulin infusions, cardiac drips, antiarrhythmic therapy, antiplatelet therapy, thrombolytic therapy, and other closely monitored treatments
• Assess patients receiving noninvasive respiratory support, including BiPAP and CPAP, and collaborate with respiratory services as needed
• Provide care for patients following PTCA, stent placement, cardiac catheterization, vascular procedures, carotid surgery, and electrical cardioversion
• Perform frequent nursing assessments and recognize changes in condition requiring timely escalation of care
• Start IVs, perform venipuncture and EKGs, and provide care related to post-cardiac catheterization procedures
• Support patients requiring advanced monitoring for drug toxicity, alcohol withdrawal, compromised gas exchange, active rewarming, or other complex conditions
• Safely administer medications and manage unit-specific infusions according to established protocols
• Float to appropriate units when needed while maintaining safe, collaborative, and patient-centered care
• Communicate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapy, telemetry staff, and the interdisciplinary care team
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and uphold professional nursing standards
