Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) – 8-Week Travel Nursing Contract in Pikeville, Kentucky

Travel RN Job Details

• Location: Pikeville, Kentucky
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,800–$1,890
• Contract Length: 8 weeks
• Start Date: November 16, 2026
• Nursing Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week; 48 hours are required for this assignment
• Scheduling: No blocked scheduling; every other weekend and holiday rotation required unless approved time off is granted
• Clinical Setting: 340-bed Level II Trauma Center with medical-surgical and telemetry units ranging from approximately 15 to 45 beds
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:6
• Uniform: Black scrubs
• Radius Requirement: A 75-mile radius rule applies

Med/Surg Telemetry RN Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license valid in Kentucky or a valid Compact RN license
• At least 1 year of recent RN experience in medical-surgical and telemetry nursing
• Level I or Level II Trauma Center experience required
• Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips and EKGs; an EKG assessment is required during the compliance process
• Associate degree or nursing certificate required
• CareVue or Epic electronic medical record experience preferred; on-site training is available
• Ability to float throughout inpatient areas and assist with aide duties when unit needs require it
• COVID-19 vaccination or an approved medical/religious declination with required weekly testing, in accordance with assignment policy
• Dependable, adaptable, team-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital environment

Medical-Surgical and Telemetry RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical and telemetry patients
• Assess patients, develop and implement individualized care plans, administer medications, and evaluate outcomes
• Continuously monitor telemetry patients and accurately identify and communicate rhythm changes
• Recognize changes in patient condition and promptly escalate concerns to the appropriate clinical team
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the electronic medical record
• Float among medical-surgical and other inpatient units as assigned while maintaining safe, compassionate patient care
• Collaborate with nurses, providers, ancillary staff, patients, and families to support positive patient outcomes
• Participate in weekend and holiday rotations and provide assistance with unit support duties when needed
