• Coverage Blocks: Full-week commitments are required; providers must be available for a continuous 7- to 14-day stretch
• Patient Volume: Approximately 15 patient encounters per shift
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $6,270–$7,420

Gastroenterologist Job Requirements

• Board certification in Gastroenterology is required
• At least 1 year of gastroenterology experience; fellowship training is preferred
• Active New Mexico medical license required
• Active New Mexico Board of Pharmacy registration required
• Active DEA registration that can be dedicated to New Mexico for the duration of coverage
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Demonstrated proficiency with ERCP and EUS, including diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
• Clean background required for temporary privileges
• Ability to provide full-week coverage during scheduled dates

Gastroenterology Physician Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient gastroenterology consultations and daily rounding
• Perform and interpret ERCP and EUS procedures, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions
• Evaluate and manage patients with complex and higher-acuity gastrointestinal conditions
• Perform or manage advanced endoscopic procedures, including upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, biopsy, polypectomy, and esophageal dilation
• Provide procedural coverage from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and respond to overnight call-back needs
• Collaborate with hospital-based physicians, nursing staff, and other clinical professionals
• Complete timely documentation, consultations, procedure notes, and patient follow-up
• Deliver safe, evidence-based care while supporting continuity throughout each coverage block
