Ophthalmology Job Details

• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; no call
• Preferred Coverage Model: Two weeks on followed by two weeks off
• Patient Volume: Approximately 20 patient encounters per day
• Practice Support: Two experienced and efficient medical assistants

Ophthalmologist Job Requirements

• Board-certified physician in Ophthalmology
• At least 1 year of recent ophthalmology experience
• Current BLS certification
• Active Michigan medical license or eligibility for Michigan licensure
• Demonstrated experience with cataract surgery, phacoemulsification, extracapsular extraction, intraocular lens implantation, and intravitreal injections
• Ability to provide comprehensive ophthalmic evaluations and surgical eye care
• Ability to interpret ophthalmic studies, including A- and B-scan ultrasound, fundus photography, fluorescein angiography, and optical coherence tomography
• Comfort managing a productive clinic with a target of at least four clinic patients per hour

Locum Tenens Ophthalmology Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage patients in a busy outpatient ophthalmology practice
• Perform cataract removal, phacoemulsification, extracapsular extraction, and intraocular lens implantation
• Provide glaucoma and corneal care as clinically indicated
• Perform intravitreal injections and other appropriate ophthalmic procedures
• Complete approximately 12–14 procedures or surgeries per day when assigned to the surgical and procedure week
• Conduct follow-up visits and ongoing patient management during the clinic week
• Interpret A- and B-scan ultrasound, fundus photographs, fluorescein angiography, and optical coherence tomography
• Deliver efficient, high-quality eye care while collaborating with a knowledgeable clinical support team
