Psychiatric RN Travel Job Details

Psychiatric RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Iowa
• At least 1 year of professional nursing experience, preferably in psychiatric nursing or behavioral health care
• Knowledge of behavioral health nursing principles, therapeutic communication, and patient safety practices
• Ability to complete required license verification and specialty competency requirements
• Strong communication, clinical judgment, patient assessment, and teamwork skills

Behavioral Health Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to individuals receiving psychiatric and behavioral health services
• Assess patient condition, monitor changes, and communicate concerns to the interdisciplinary care team
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with established clinical standards and provider orders
• Use therapeutic communication techniques to build trust and support patient engagement in care
• Promote a safe, structured, and respectful environment for patients, visitors, and staff
• Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care plans accurately
• Collaborate with providers and other members of the care team to support individualized treatment goals
