Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois, or confirmation that the Illinois RN licensing process has been initiated
• At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Strong patient assessment, clinical judgment, medication administration, and communication skills
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts in an acute-care hospital environment

Medical-Surgical Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients with a variety of acute and chronic conditions
• Perform ongoing patient assessments, identify changes in condition, and escalate concerns appropriately
• Administer medications and treatments safely according to established orders and clinical standards
• Collaborate with providers, nursing colleagues, patients, and families to coordinate individualized care plans
• Document assessments, interventions, outcomes, and care plans accurately in Epic
• Support discharge planning, patient education, fall prevention, infection control, and other quality-focused initiatives
