Medical-Surgical RN Job Details

• Location: Lawrence, Kansas
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910–$2,010
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: November 15, 2026
• Schedule: Night shifts, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
• Hours: 36 hours per week; schedule varies based on unit needs
• Orientation: Daytime orientation on Monday; unit orientation schedules may vary
• Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Based on unit needs, with an expectation to assist with holidays
• Floating: As needed
• Work Setting: On-site, acute-care medical-surgical unit

Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent Medical-Surgical RN experience in an acute-care setting
• Active Kansas Registered Nurse license held at the time of submission
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and patient-care skills
• Step-down or higher-acuity nursing experience preferred

Med-Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients throughout their hospital stay
• Assess patients, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes
• Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with orders and established nursing standards
• Monitor changes in patient condition and promptly communicate concerns to appropriate care team members
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, nursing staff, and other disciplines to coordinate patient care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge planning
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the medical record
• Float to other units as needed and support weekend and holiday coverage requirements
