Remote Inpatient Coder Job Details

• Work Arrangement: Remote
• Location: Springfield, Illinois area
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,450-$1,550
• Schedule: 8-hour days, 5 shifts per week
• Hours: 40 hours per week
• Start Date: November 9, 2026
• Assignment Length: 26 weeks, with potential for continued assignments based on performance and business needs
• Technology: Cerner Revenue Cycle, PowerChart, and 3M CAC

Inpatient Medical Coder Qualifications

• At least 1 year of inpatient medical coding experience
• Knowledge of inpatient coding guidelines, documentation review, and compliant code assignment
• Experience working in an electronic health record and computer-assisted coding environment
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain coding accuracy while meeting productivity expectations
• Clinical documentation querying experience preferred
• Reliable home-based work environment and the ability to work independently

Inpatient Coding Responsibilities

• Review inpatient medical records and assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes in accordance with applicable coding guidelines
• Use Cerner Revenue Cycle, PowerChart, and 3M CAC to complete inpatient coding assignments
• Identify documentation gaps and submit appropriate clinical documentation queries when clarification is needed
• Maintain an expected production pace of approximately 2-3 charts per hour, with high-dollar charts generally completed at approximately 1-2 per hour
• Collaborate with the coding and healthcare revenue cycle team to support accuracy, timeliness, and quality goals
• Participate in training and workflow transition activities associated with upcoming system implementation milestones
