Food Service Worker and Dietary Aide Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 1 year of relevant food service, dietary, hospitality, or institutional dining experience preferred
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food-handling practices
• Ability to follow patient dietary instructions and hospital department procedures accurately
• Strong customer service, communication, and teamwork skills
• Ability to work an onsite variable schedule, including alternating weekends and holidays
• Ability to remain on your feet for extended periods and safely perform routine hospital food service tasks

Hospital Dietary Services Responsibilities

• Prepare, portion, assemble, and distribute patient meals and refreshments according to established procedures
• Support timely patient meal delivery while maintaining attention to dietary needs and special instructions
• Maintain clean, sanitary, and organized work areas, equipment, and food service stations
• Handle food safely and follow applicable sanitation and infection-prevention practices
• Assist with stocking food service supplies, washing dishes, and maintaining kitchen and dining service areas
• Communicate professionally with patients, visitors, and members of the healthcare team
• Work collaboratively with dietary services staff to support an efficient hospital food service operation
