Oncology Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in West Virginia
• At least 1 year of professional RN experience; medical-surgical or oncology nursing experience strongly preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, organization, and time-management skills
• Ability to provide compassionate patient care in a fast-paced acute-care environment

Medical-Surgical Oncology RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult patients receiving medical-surgical oncology treatment
• Perform patient assessments, monitor changes in condition, and promptly escalate concerns
• Administer medications and treatments safely while following oncology nursing and acute-care protocols
• Coordinate care with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, symptom management, and discharge instructions
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care plans in the electronic health record
• Promote patient safety, infection prevention, comfort, and dignity throughout the care experience
