• Weekend Coverage: One scheduled weekend day and rotating weekend coverage per four-week schedule
• Call: One second-call assignment per four-week schedule; 24-hour weekend call may be scheduled with a 30-minute response time
• Patient Population and Cases: Same-day procedures and cases requiring overnight stays

Operating Room RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for licensure in West Virginia
• At least 1 year of recent Operating Room, perioperative, or surgical nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Strong intravenous therapy skills
• Knowledge of surgical nursing care and perioperative workflows
• Experience with or familiarity with robotic surgical procedures preferred
• Ability to participate in rotating weekend and call coverage
• Ability to float to the OR holding area as needed

Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive preoperative nursing care for patients preparing for surgical procedures.
• Complete patient assessments, medication reviews, IV preparation, and readiness checks before surgery.
• Support care for a broad range of surgical cases, including same-day procedures and overnight admissions.
• Apply sound perioperative nursing knowledge while coordinating with perioperative nurses, providers, anesthesia professionals, and surgical team members.
• Use and maintain accurate clinical documentation in the Allscripts electronic medical record.
• Assist with care coordination in the surgical center and OR holding area.
• Participate in scheduled weekend coverage and call responsibilities while responding within the required timeframe.
• Promote patient safety, infection prevention, effective communication, and a positive perioperative experience.
