Travel Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,030–$2,190
• Schedule: Nights, three 12-hour shifts per week, including every other weekend
• Shift Duration: 12 hours
• Hours: 36 hours per week
• Contract Duration: Approximately 17 weeks
• Anticipated Start Date: August 13, 2026
• Orientation: Day shift
• Additional Requirement: Participation in external patient transports

Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Requirements

• Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential and authorization to practice in New York
• At least 1 year of recent respiratory therapy experience, including experience in critical care
• Experience caring for neonatal patients in a hospital setting
• Current BLS certification and the ability to provide adult, pediatric, and neonatal life support
• Demonstrated experience with V60 noninvasive ventilation and Puritan Bennett 980 ventilators
• Proficiency with mechanical ventilation, BiPAP/CPAP, high-flow oxygen systems, and ventilator alarm management
• Experience with electronic clinical documentation systems, including EPIC
• Strong patient assessment, communication, documentation, and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to work independently, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and participate in external patient transports

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and provide timely, accurate, and reliable respiratory therapy services according to physician orders and department protocols
• Administer aerosol, oxygen, metered-dose inhaler, incentive spirometry, CPT/Flutter/PEP, cough-assist, and vest therapies
• Perform suctioning, extubation, arterial puncture, blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function screening, and related diagnostic procedures
• Manage mechanical ventilation, ventilator alarms, BiPAP/CPAP therapy, high-flow cannula systems, and humidification equipment
• Provide respiratory support for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients, including emergency and critical care interventions
• Perform adult and pediatric EKG procedures and support blood gas laboratory quality control activities
• Verify orders and accurately document procedures, assessments, patient responses, and results in the electronic health record
• Maintain oxygen tank safety and follow established department delivery and patient-care standards
• Participate in patient transports, staff education, departmental in-service programs, and quality-improvement activities
• Perform other respiratory care and departmental duties as assigned
