Job Details

• Position: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
• Setting: Hospital / Children's Hospital / Pediatric & Neonatal Care
• Location: Charlottesville, VA 22908 — a welcoming community with scenic Blue Ridge Mountain views, historic charm, and a vibrant downtown atmosphere.
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: 10/12/2026
• Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
• Schedule: 3x12 night shifts; 36 or 48 hours per week available; every other weekend required
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,810 - $1,940
• Orientation: Included during onboarding
• Work Environment: Multidisciplinary pediatric, neonatal, and critical care team

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of respiratory therapy experience required
• Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required
• Virginia state respiratory therapist license required; pending license accepted if temp eligibility is met before start
• Experience in a Level IV NICU required
• Cardiac PICU experience preferred
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACCS) preferred
• Comfortable floating within scope of practice across all pediatric hospital units
• Must be able to work 2 of the 3 winter holidays
• Flu vaccine required
• Experience with Epic required unless otherwise noted by the job or unit description

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory care for neonates, infants, pediatrics, and adolescents across multiple hospital units
• Support high-risk deliveries, NICU, PICU, and acute care pediatric patients
• Perform and assist with advanced respiratory therapies and ventilator management
• Demonstrate competency with Bunnell Jet Ventilator and HFOV 3100A equipment
• Deliver care in a multidisciplinary team environment with strong communication and critical thinking
• Assist with airway management, intubation support, suctioning, ABG interpretation, and aerosol therapies as needed
• Work scheduled night shifts, including every other weekend coverage
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow unit-specific protocols and safety standards
