Job description
Perioperative Services Educator / Program Development
Full-Time | Day Shift | 4x10s
Are you an experienced OR RN and perioperative educator who enjoys teaching, developing programs, and helping surgical teams grow?
We’re partnering with a leading academic health system in South Jersey seeking a Perioperative Services Educator/Program Development Coordinator to support two hospital-operated ambulatory surgery centers. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of perioperative education across multiple surgical departments while helping establish and grow an education program at a newer surgical facility.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
- 4-day workweek with four 10-hour day shifts
- Take ownership of education across OR, Pre-Op, PACU/Post-Op, Surgical Techs, and other perioperative teams
- Play a key role in building and implementing the Periop 101 program
- Opportunity to make an impact at a growing surgical center rather than simply maintaining an established program
- Work closely with nursing leadership, clinical teams, and medical device/equipment vendors
- Exposure to a strong surgical program with significant orthopedic and neuro volume
- Join an academic healthcare environment known for clinical innovation, advanced technology, professional development, and career growth
- Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, retirement, life and disability coverage
What You’ll Do
- Coordinate and teach Periop 101
- Assess educational and competency needs across perioperative services
- Develop, implement, and evaluate clinical education programs
- Serve as a clinical resource for perioperative staff
- Support onboarding, continuing education, competencies, and professional development
- Review policies and evidence-based practices to ensure current standards are maintained
- Partner with vendors on education related to new equipment, technology, and products
- Maintain education and competency documentation to support regulatory readiness
- Help develop and launch perioperative education programming at the newer surgery center
What We’re Looking For
- Active New Jersey RN license
- BSN required
- MSN highly preferred; candidates without an MSN must be willing to obtain it within 2 years
- 3–5+ years of OR nursing experience
- Strong orthopedic perioperative experience
- At least 1 year of nursing education experience
- Must have completed Periop 101 AND have experience teaching/coordinating the program
- Experience helping develop, launch, or expand a Periop 101 curriculum/program strongly preferred
- Organized, proactive, self-motivated, and comfortable independently driving education initiatives
This is an excellent next step for an experienced OR RN Educator who wants to move beyond bedside care while remaining closely connected to perioperative practice — with the opportunity to teach, influence clinical standards, develop staff, and build a program.
