FNP and Physician Assistant Job Requirements

• Current Family Nurse Practitioner certification or Physician Assistant certification
• Active North Carolina license or eligibility to practice in North Carolina
• Active DEA registration
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• At least 1 year of experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, primary care, or a comparable clinical setting
• Ability to evaluate and treat patients independently in a fast-paced urgent care environment
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, documentation, and patient service skills
• DOT certification is a plus

Urgent Care Provider Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with acute illnesses, injuries, and other urgent care needs
• Perform common urgent care procedures, including laceration repair, abscess drainage, splinting, and wound care
• Order, review, and interpret diagnostic tests and incorporate findings into treatment plans
• Prescribe appropriate medications and provide clear patient education and follow-up instructions
• Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in the electronic medical record
• Manage a daily patient volume that may range from approximately 30 to 50 patients, with increased demand during cold and flu season
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to support efficient urgent care operations and a positive patient experience
• Recognize patients requiring a higher level of care and coordinate appropriate referrals or transfers
