Urgent Care Job Details

• Position Type: PRN locum tenens opportunity
• Start Date: November 1, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Openings: 2
• Schedule: Approximately 2 shifts per week; 24 hours per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts
• Clinic Hours: Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.; Sunday, 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
• November Dates: November 1, 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.; November 21, 8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.; November 22, 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $3,260–$3,870
• Practice Setting: On-site urgent care clinic
• Clinical Support: Remote supervising physician available while the advanced practice provider practices independently on site

Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant Requirements

• Current North Carolina license as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
• Current Family Nurse Practitioner certification or Physician Assistant certification
• At least 1 year of urgent care, emergency medicine, or primary care experience preferred
• Active DEA registration
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Strong clinical judgment and the ability to practice independently
• Excellent communication, teamwork, documentation, and patient service skills
• DOT certification is a plus

Urgent Care Advanced Practice Provider Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with acute illnesses and injuries
• Perform common urgent care procedures, including laceration repair, abscess drainage, splinting, and wound care
• Order, review, and interpret diagnostic tests
• Prescribe appropriate medications and provide clear patient education
• Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in the electronic medical record
• Manage a daily patient volume of approximately 30 to 50 patients, with increased volume possible during cold and flu season
• Serve as the on-site advanced practice provider and coordinate with remote physician support when needed
• Collaborate with clinic staff to promote efficient operations, continuity of care, and a positive patient experience
