Urgent Care Job Details

• Opportunity Type: PRN locum tenens for a Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

• Duration: 13 weeks
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $3,260–$3,870
• Typical Schedule: 2 shifts per week
• Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts
• November 2026 Coverage Dates: November 4, 13, and 19, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
• Clinic Hours: Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.; Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
• Patient Volume: Approximately 30–50 patients per day, with increased volume during cold and flu season
• Practice Model: Independent APP practice with remote physician supervision available

FNP and Physician Assistant Job Requirements

• Current North Carolina licensure as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
• National certification as an FNP or PA
• At least 1 year of experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, primary care, or a related setting preferred
• Demonstrated ability to practice independently and manage a broad range of urgent care presentations
• Active DEA registration
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, teamwork, and patient-service skills
• DOT certification is a plus

Urgent Care Provider Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with acute illnesses and injuries
• Perform common urgent care procedures, including laceration repair, abscess drainage, splinting, and wound care
• Order, review, and interpret diagnostic tests
• Prescribe appropriate medications and provide clear patient education
• Document patient encounters accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record
• Manage patient flow and provide efficient, compassionate care in a high-volume urgent care setting
• Collaborate with clinic staff and consult with the remotely available supervising physician as appropriate
• Support a positive patient experience while maintaining high standards of clinical quality and safety
