Urgent Care Job Details

• Opportunity Type: Locum tenens, PRN
• Start Date: November 1, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $3,260–$3,870
• Schedule: Approximately 2 shifts per week; about 24 hours per week
• Shift Duration: Primarily 12-hour day shifts
• Clinic Hours: Monday through Saturday, 8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.; Sunday, 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
• November 2026 Dates: November 1, 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.; November 10 and 21, 8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.
• Patient Volume: Approximately 30–50 patients per day, with increased volume during cold and flu season
• Practice Model: Independent practice with remote physician supervision

Family Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience in urgent care, emergency medicine, primary care, or a closely related setting
• Current North Carolina license as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
• Current Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant certification
• Active DEA registration
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Ability to practice independently and manage a broad range of urgent care presentations
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, teamwork, and patient service skills
• DOT certification is a plus

Urgent Care APP Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with acute illnesses and injuries
• Perform common urgent care procedures, including laceration repair, abscess drainage, splinting, and wound care
• Order, review, and interpret diagnostic tests
• Prescribe appropriate medications and provide clear patient education
• Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in the electronic medical record
• Manage patient flow and provide timely care in a high-volume clinic
• Collaborate with clinical and support staff to promote safe, efficient operations
• Recognize higher-acuity conditions and coordinate appropriate escalation or referral when needed
