• November 2026 Coverage Dates: November 1 from 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.; November 2, 4, 9, 13, 17, and 18 from 8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.; November 16 from 4:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m.; and November 25 from 8:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
• Practice Model: Independent practice with access to a remote supervising physician

Family Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant Requirements

• Current Family Nurse Practitioner certification or Physician Assistant certification
• Active North Carolina licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
• At least 1 year of clinical experience required; urgent care, emergency medicine, or primary care experience strongly preferred
• Active DEA registration
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• DOT certification is a plus
• Ability to practice independently and manage a broad range of urgent care conditions
• Excellent communication, teamwork, clinical judgment, and patient service skills

Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with acute illnesses and injuries
• Perform common urgent care procedures, including laceration repair, abscess drainage, splinting, and wound care
• Order, review, and interpret diagnostic testing
• Prescribe appropriate medications and provide clear patient education
• Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in the electronic medical record
• Manage an active daily patient volume that may range from approximately 30 to 50 patients, with increased volume during cold and flu season
• Serve as the on-site advanced practice provider while collaborating with clinic staff and the remote supervising physician
• Support efficient clinic operations and deliver a positive patient experience
