Shift Details:

• 6:30 AM–3:00PM

• Monday–Friday

Dental Assistant Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist the Dental Officer with restorative dentistry, oral surgery, periodontics, prosthetics, and dental examinations.

• Retrieve patient records, prepare patients, and assist with appointments and emergency treatments.

• Prepare and pass dental instruments, materials, medications, and equipment during procedures.

• Assist with suctioning, tissue retraction, irrigation, and patient monitoring.

• Perform dental screenings, periodontal charting, and patient dental health education.

• Perform dental prophylaxis and place temporary fillings when authorized (RDA only).

• Assist with periodontal surgery, rubber dam placement, and packing removal.

• Maintain dental treatment records and prepare treatment rooms for the next patient.

• Clean, sharpen, disinfect, and sterilize dental instruments and contaminated waste.

• Inspect and maintain dental equipment and report malfunctions.

• Take and process digital and conventional dental radiographs while following radiation safety protocols.

• Apply prescribed dental medications and anticariogenic agents as authorized.

• Assist with denture fabrication and repair, take dental impressions, pour casts, and select tooth shades.

• Follow infection control procedures and perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Shall possess specialty training from a licensed dentist and/or certification from an accredited Dental Assistant school. 

• Training must include dental radiology and radiology safety.

• Shall be certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience providing Dental Assistant services. 

• Bilingual oral communication skills and experience in a clinical correctional setting are desirable  

• Additional certifications may be required.
