Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical Registered Nurse experience
• Active Registered Nurse license and eligibility to practice in Louisiana
• Current nursing credentials required for travel assignment consideration
• Ability to provide safe, effective care for adult medical-surgical patients and occasional pediatric patients
• Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and clinical documentation skills
• Must meet travel nursing eligibility requirements, including not permanently residing within 50 miles of the assignment location

Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients on a medical-surgical unit during overnight shifts
• Assess patient conditions, identify changes in status, and escalate concerns appropriately
• Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with care plans and clinical standards
• Monitor patients before and after medical or surgical procedures and evaluate their response to care
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing colleagues, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans, recovery, and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and provide thorough shift-to-shift handoff communication
