ICU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 1 year of recent ICU nursing experience; strong cardiac experience is required
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Current ACLS certification
• Current NIHSS certification
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Education verification required
• Willingness to float to medical-surgical, step-down, telemetry, and related patient care units as needed
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, documentation, and patient safety skills

ICU Travel Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill, cardiac, telemetry, stroke/neuro, step-down, and medical-surgical patients
• Use the nursing process to assess patients, develop individualized plans of care, implement interventions, and evaluate outcomes
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies, procedures, standards of care, and applicable laws
• Monitor complex patients, recognize changes in condition, and promptly escalate concerns through the appropriate chain of command
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to support safe, coordinated patient care
• Document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care plans accurately and in a timely manner
• Provide patient and family education tailored to individual needs and clinical conditions
• Participate in unit performance improvement initiatives and shared governance activities when applicable
• Offer clinical guidance and support to other units and departments as part of the patient’s overall care plan
