PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license with eligibility to practice in Florida
• At least 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience
• Progressive Care nursing experience in an acute-care hospital setting
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) credentials
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Degree accreditation must be documented, or candidates must have at least 5 years of acute-care nursing experience
• Ability to float to other units or locations as needed, with travel nurses expected to float first
• Strong communication, teamwork, clinical judgment, and adaptability

Progressive Care Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult progressive care patients, including orthopedic and spine patients
• Perform focused and comprehensive nursing assessments, monitor for changes in condition, and escalate concerns promptly
• Administer medications and treatments safely while following established clinical protocols
• Manage patients requiring progressive care monitoring and coordinate care with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in Epic
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, recovery, and discharge needs
• Adapt to changing unit needs and provide safe, effective care when floating to other areas
