Psychiatric Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active New Hampshire or Compact Registered Nurse (RN) license at the time of submission
• At least 2 years of recent psychiatric nursing or behavioral health nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current CPI or MOAB certification
• Current resume documenting relevant psychiatric nursing and travel nursing experience
• Strong communication, psychiatric assessment, therapeutic de-escalation, and crisis-management skills
• Cerner experience preferred but not required

Psychiatric RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to patients receiving behavioral health services
• Complete psychiatric assessments, monitor patient status, and document changes in condition
• Administer medications and evaluate patient responses according to established protocols
• Use therapeutic communication and evidence-based de-escalation techniques to support patient safety
• Collaborate with providers, mental health professionals, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Recognize and respond appropriately to behavioral health emergencies and changes in patient risk
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans, medications, coping strategies, and discharge needs
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and follow unit policies and behavioral health safety standards
