PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license and eligibility to practice in Florida
• At least 2 years of Progressive Care Unit, PCU, or step-down nursing experience
• Previous cardiac nursing experience required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Accredited nursing degree or a minimum of 5 years of applicable nursing experience
• Ability to work night shifts and adapt to a fast-paced, high-acuity cardiac nursing environment
• Flexibility to float to other units or campuses when needed

Cardiac Progressive Care Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to cardiac and progressive care patients.
• Assess patient conditions, recognize changes in acuity, and initiate timely interventions.
• Administer medications and treatments safely while monitoring patient responses.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate individualized care plans.
• Monitor and document patient progress, vital signs, clinical findings, and interventions in Epic.
• Maintain safe patient assignments while caring for approximately 4–5 patients per shift.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge planning.
• Float to other areas as needed and contribute as a fully integrated member of the nursing team.
