Emergency Department RN Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license valid for practice in New York
• At least 1 year of recent Emergency Department or emergency room nursing experience
• Emergency room nursing certification or demonstrated emergency nursing competency
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• Current NIHSS certification
• Current CPI certification
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and prioritization skills in a high-acuity emergency care environment
• Ability to complete required health screening, background verification, and facility competency requirements

Emergency Room Nurse Responsibilities

• Assess, triage, and provide nursing care to patients presenting with a broad range of medical, surgical, and urgent conditions
• Monitor patient status, recognize changes in condition, and escalate concerns promptly
• Administer medications and treatments safely while following established emergency care protocols
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the interdisciplinary care team
• Support emergency procedures, stabilization efforts, and timely transitions of care
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Epic
• Provide clear patient and family education while delivering compassionate care during stressful situations
• Participate in department workflow, rotating weekend coverage, and quality and safety initiatives
