Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical-Surgical, Diabetic Renal Unit in Lynchburg, Virginia

Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,860–$1,960
• Schedule: Approximately 36 hours per week
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
• Assignment Dates: November 2, 2026 through March 20, 2027
• Assignment Length: Approximately 20 weeks
• Weekend Requirement: 2–3 weekends per month based on unit needs
• Holiday Requirement: At least one major holiday, including Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, or New Year's Day
• Float Requirement: None indicated

Travel RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or a compact state at the time of submission
• At least 2 years of recent experience in medical-surgical nursing or a related specialty
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred; willingness and ability to perform charge nurse responsibilities required
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and meet unit scheduling needs
• Comfort working in a teaching-hospital environment with students and new team members
• All requested time off must be submitted with the application

Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to medical-surgical patients with diabetic and renal conditions
• Assess patient conditions, administer medications and treatments, and evaluate responses to care
• Monitor patients for changes in condition and promptly communicate concerns to the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Coordinate patient care with physicians, nurses, students, new hires, and other healthcare professionals
• Serve in a charge nurse capacity as required, with training and appropriate differential support provided
• Promote a supportive learning environment for students and newly hired staff
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and follow hospital policies, safety standards, and infection-prevention practices
• Adapt to changing census and staffing needs while maintaining high-quality patient care
