PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent progressive care or surgical PCU nursing experience
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Florida
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Degree accreditation documented in the candidate profile, or at least 5 years of acute care nursing experience
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Comfort working night shifts, floating when needed, and functioning as an integral member of the progressive care unit team

Progressive Care Unit RN Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a surgical progressive care setting.
• Monitor patients with complex medical and post-surgical needs, recognizing changes in condition and escalating concerns promptly.
• Administer medications and treatments, perform nursing assessments, and coordinate individualized plans of care.
• Collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to promote safe, effective patient outcomes.
• Accurately document patient care and clinical findings in Epic.
• Maintain safe patient assignments while managing an approximate 4–5:1 patient ratio.
• Float to other units or affiliated facilities when required and adapt effectively to changing staffing needs.
