Medical-Surgical RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in West Virginia
• At least 1 year of recent acute-care medical-surgical nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Current NIHSS certification
• Ability to care for up to seven adult medical-surgical patients and adapt to changing census needs
• Comfort working 12-hour night shifts, including scheduled weekends and holidays
• Willingness to float as needed based on census, with external travelers typically floating first
• Any licensing concerns or restrictions must be disclosed during the application process

Travel Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients in an acute-care hospital setting
• Care for patients with diagnoses including CHF, COPD, cellulitis, pneumonia, urosepsis, acute kidney injury, cholecystitis, appendicitis, and rule-out conditions
• Perform nursing assessments, administer medications, implement individualized care plans, and evaluate patient progress
• Titrate heparin infusions according to aPTT results and facility protocols
• Monitor patients using remote telemetry and promptly communicate changes in condition
• Collaborate with charge nurses, patient care technicians, respiratory therapy, providers, and the interdisciplinary care team
• Use EPIC to document patient care accurately and efficiently
• Promote patient safety, quality outcomes, and compassionate bedside nursing throughout the assignment
