Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in West Virginia
• At least 1 year of recent registered nursing experience; cardiac stepdown, progressive care, or telemetry experience strongly preferred
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Current ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, including weekends as scheduled
• Strong patient assessment, communication, organization, and clinical decision-making skills
• Comfort using EPIC or a comparable electronic health record system

Cardiac Stepdown Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in a cardiac stepdown and progressive-care environment
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, vital signs, oxygenation, and changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with orders and established standards
• Recognize and promptly respond to clinical deterioration or cardiac-related complications
• Perform focused and comprehensive assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes
• Collaborate with providers, nurses, therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team
• Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, recovery, and discharge needs
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in EPIC
