PACU Registered Nurse (RN) Travel Contract – Modesto, California

Join a collaborative perioperative team as a Travel PACU Registered Nurse in Modesto, California. This on-site California travel nursing assignment offers the opportunity to provide preoperative and post-anesthesia care to adolescent, adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients in a fast-paced setting. Candidates should have recent PACU, perioperative, or Registered Nurse experience, an active California RN license, and current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.

Travel PACU RN Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,090–$2,200
• Location: Modesto, California
• Healthcare Setting: On-site preoperative and post-anesthesia care
• Start Date: November 10, 2026
• End Date: February 9, 2027
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Schedule: 5 shifts per week; 40 hours per week
• Shift Duration: 8-hour day shifts
• Shift Times: Variable start times ranging from approximately 5:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; shifts may end as late as 8:00 p.m.
• Weekend Requirement: None
• Call Requirement: None
• Patient Ratio: Approximately 1:5 during the day
• Orientation: 16 hours

PACU Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of recent Registered Nurse experience, preferably in PACU, preoperative, or perioperative nursing
• Current California Registered Nurse license
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Recent experience with Epic electronic health records is required
• Experience caring for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Strong patient assessment, communication, organization, and clinical decision-making skills

PACU Travel Nurse Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive preoperative nursing assessments, review patient histories, and confirm readiness for procedures
• Provide preoperative education, medication reconciliation, and procedural preparation
• Monitor patients during Phase II recovery and respond promptly to changes in airway, circulation, pain, level of consciousness, or vital signs
• Administer and evaluate the effects of medications, analgesics, reversal agents, and emergency interventions
• Support airway assessment and management, including placement of oral or nasal airways and monitoring patients receiving monitored anesthesia care
• Manage pain, nausea, sedation, nerve blocks, PCA pumps, and post-procedure recovery needs
• Perform discharge assessments, provide clear discharge instructions, and complete follow-up phone calls as needed
• Document patient care accurately in Epic and collaborate with providers and the interdisciplinary perioperative team
