Travel Registered Nurse Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license in Georgia or a compact state
• Associate degree or nursing certificate required; bachelor’s degree preferred
• At least 2 years of recent experience on an Oncology or Medical-Surgical unit
• At least 1 completed travel nursing assignment required
• Chemo certification required
• American Heart Association BLS certification required
• American Heart Association NIHSS certification required
• American Heart Association ACLS certification highly preferred
• Recent experience managing sickle cell disease and high-acuity pain needs
• Demonstrated proficiency with peripheral IV insertion and tracheostomy care
• Experience operating PCA pumps, reassessing pain interventions, and escalating barriers to effective pain control
• Ability to float to acute-care, cardiac, or emergency patient-hold assignments when needed

Medical-Surgical and Oncology RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to medical-surgical, oncology, and sickle cell patients
• Assess patients, develop and update care plans, administer medications, and evaluate treatment effectiveness
• Manage complex pain needs, including PCA pumps, frequent reassessment, and timely escalation during sickle cell crises
• Administer and monitor chemotherapy according to established safety protocols
• Perform peripheral IV insertions and provide tracheostomy care and management
• Recognize changes in patient condition and collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in Meditech Expanse
• Float to other acute-care areas or nearby assignments based on patient-care needs
• Participate in rotating weekend and holiday coverage
