Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250
• Location: Wausau, Wisconsin
• Healthcare Setting: Inpatient medical-surgical oncology unit
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: October 26, 2026
• Shift Duration: 12-hour night shifts
• Schedule: 7:00 PM–7:30 AM; every other weekend and holiday rotation
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week; overtime after 48 hours worked
• Orientation: 8 hours
• Patient Ratios: Typically 5:1 on nights, with ratios occasionally increasing to 7:1
• Travel Requirement: Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the assignment location

Oncology Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of Registered Nurse (RN) experience
• Previous oncology nursing experience required; medical-surgical oncology experience strongly preferred
• Active Wisconsin Registered Nurse license
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Current chemotherapy certification
• Associate degree or nursing certificate required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Epic experience preferred; prior electronic medical record (EMR) experience required
• Ability to float to other appropriate care areas and care for patients within scope of practice

Oncology Nursing Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to medical and surgical oncology patients in an inpatient setting
• Administer medications and treatments safely, including chemotherapy-related care within the appropriate scope and competency
• Assess patient conditions, recognize changes in status, and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary care team
• Use electronic charting and medication-scanning technology to maintain accurate documentation and promote patient safety
• Collaborate with nursing assistants, providers, and support staff to coordinate individualized patient care
• Float in four-hour blocks as needed to support other units and patient populations within your qualifications
• Support patients and families through diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and ongoing oncology care
