Travel Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-Week Assignment in Tracy, California

Travel Nursing Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,650–$2,790

Labor & Delivery RN Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse license valid in California
• At least 2 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Current NRP provider certification
• AWHONN Advanced or Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification
• Strong fetal monitoring and obstetric assessment skills
• Comfort caring for both the laboring patient and the newborn following delivery
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Experience with electronic health record and clinical documentation systems preferred

Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout labor, delivery, recovery, and the postpartum period.
• Perform obstetric triage, patient assessments, sterile vaginal examinations, and ongoing fetal and maternal monitoring.
• Use external fetal monitoring and interpret fetal heart rate patterns to support timely clinical interventions.
• Assist with vaginal deliveries and circulate for Cesarean sections.
• Recover patients following Cesarean sections and monitor for potential complications.
• Administer and monitor medications and therapies, including Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, terbutaline, antihypertensives, antiseizure medications, and epidural anesthesia.
• Manage IV therapy, infusion pumps, PCA equipment, blood products, and other ordered treatments.
• Assess and document fundus, lochia, perineum, pain, and overall postpartum recovery.
• Complete newborn and maternal safety measures, including APGAR scoring and identification banding.
• Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary support teams to promote safe, high-quality outcomes for patients and newborns.
