Travel Surgical Technologist Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,850–$1,990
• Location: Miami, Florida
• Healthcare Setting: Pediatric cardiac operating room (CVOR)
• Assignment Type: 13-week travel contract
• Start Date: October 19, 2026
• End Date: January 18, 2027
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., based on operating room case volume
• Hours: 40 hours per week; some weeks may include four 10-hour shifts depending on the operating room schedule
• Shift Duration: 8-hour day shifts
• Call: Required; alternating first-call and second-call rotation. Call begins after the scheduled workday and continues until the following morning.

Cardiac Surgical Technologist Job Requirements

• At least 2 years of surgical technologist experience in an acute care setting
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or nationally certified surgical technologist
• Cardiac and congenital heart surgical experience strongly preferred
• Current AHA BLS certification required
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification highly preferred
• Experience with cardiopulmonary bypass and perfusion workflows preferred
• Experience with hybrid operating rooms, transcatheter procedures, or robotic-assisted surgery preferred
• Ability to work in a high-acuity pediatric cardiac operating room
• Availability for the alternating first-call and second-call rotation
• Current COVID-19 vaccination required, with medical or religious exemptions considered

CVOR Surgical Technologist Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary scrub technologist for complex cardiac and congenital heart procedures
• Prepare, organize, and manage specialized cardiac instruments, implants, grafts, valves, and devices
• Set up and maintain the sterile field in accordance with established standards
• Perform surgical counts and participate in the surgical time-out process
• Handle specimens according to applicable policies and procedures
• Collaborate with cardiac surgeons, interventional cardiologists, perfusionists, anesthesia providers, registered nurses, and other surgical staff
• Support cardiopulmonary bypass, hybrid operating room, cardiac catheterization, and robotic procedures as applicable
• Maintain physician preference cards and ensure equipment and supplies are ready for scheduled cases
• Anticipate procedural needs and respond calmly and independently during complex or emergent cardiac procedures
• Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique, patient safety standards, and cardiac-specific protocols
