Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Requirements

• Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
• Current respiratory therapy license or eligibility to practice in Iowa
• At least 1 year of respiratory therapy experience in a hospital setting
• Ability to provide safe, compassionate, and clinically appropriate respiratory care
• Strong patient assessment, communication, teamwork, and clinical documentation skills
• Successful completion of required credential verification, competency review, and facility onboarding requirements

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor, and document patients’ respiratory status and response to treatment
• Deliver prescribed respiratory therapies and oxygen treatments in accordance with established protocols
• Support patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions across the hospital
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other members of the care team to develop and implement effective treatment plans
• Recognize changes in patient condition and respond promptly to respiratory emergencies
