ICU Nurse Manager | Newly Created Leadership Opportunity | Flemington, NJ

Location: Flemington, NJ
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Schedule: Primarily Monday–Friday, Day Shift
Compensation: $118,793–$148,492 annually, depending on experience

Position Overview

Looking for a nursing leadership opportunity where your voice is heard, your ideas matter, and you can make a real impact?

We're recruiting for a newly created ICU Nurse Manager position with a well-established, community-focused healthcare system in Flemington, NJ!

Unlike larger hospital systems where leadership roles can feel removed from day-to-day operations, this opportunity offers the chance to make a visible difference in a more intimate hospital setting. You'll work closely with experienced nursing leadership, build meaningful relationships with your team, and have a direct influence on clinical operations, staff development, and patient care.

Whether you're an experienced Nurse Manager or a strong ICU nurse with leadership experience ready to take the next step, this is an opportunity to grow your career while making a lasting impact.

Don't Have the Nurse Manager Title Yet? We'd Still Love to Hear From You!

We're open to experienced ICU nurses who have demonstrated leadership through Charge Nurse, Clinical Coordinator, Assistant Nurse Manager, or similar responsibilities.

If you've been looking for the right opportunity to transition into formal nursing management, this could be an excellent next step with the support of an experienced leadership team.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Newly Created Leadership Position: Step into a role specifically designed to provide additional leadership, resources, and support to the nursing teams. Help shape how the position evolves and make a meaningful contribution from day one.

  • Smaller Hospital, Bigger Impact: Enjoy the close-knit environment of a community hospital where leadership is accessible, collaboration is encouraged, and your contributions are visible. Your decisions can directly influence your team and the quality of patient care.

  • Mentorship & Career Growth: Work closely with an experienced Nursing Director who can provide guidance, mentorship, and support as you continue developing your leadership career.

  • An Opportunity to Lead Two Specialized Units: Oversee a 12-bed ICU and a 20-bed cardiovascular stepdown unit, gaining valuable leadership experience across two important areas of acute care.

  • Established, Experienced Nursing Teams: Join departments with a strong mix of seasoned nurses and developing clinicians, creating opportunities to mentor, educate, and build a positive team culture.

  • Leadership With Clinical Connection: Stay connected to the clinical environment while taking ownership of staffing, quality initiatives, patient safety, and team development.

  • Competitive Compensation: Earn $118,793–$148,492 annually, depending on experience.

Your Leadership Impact

As the ICU Nurse Manager, you'll provide operational and clinical leadership across two departments, supporting approximately 80 full-time equivalent positions.

You'll work collaboratively with the Nursing Director, Clinical Coordinators, Charge Nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure exceptional patient care while creating an environment where nurses feel supported and empowered to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily operations across the 12-bed ICU and 20-bed cardiovascular stepdown unit.

  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, employee performance, and operational efficiency.

  • Support and develop approximately 80 FTEs across both departments.

  • Mentor nurses at different stages of their careers, fostering clinical confidence, professional growth, and accountability.

  • Drive quality improvement initiatives, patient safety efforts, and positive clinical outcomes.

  • Partner closely with experienced nursing leadership to identify opportunities for departmental improvement.

  • Support orientation, education, and the development of critical thinking skills among nursing staff.

  • Maintain a visible, approachable leadership presence and provide hands-on clinical support when needed.

  • Promote a collaborative, supportive, and patient-centered work environment.

  • Ability to effectively manage staff, prioritize competing needs, and collaborate across departments.

Preferred:

  • ICU or critical care nursing background.

  • 2–3 years of nursing leadership experience.

  • Previous experience as a Nurse Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager, Clinical Coordinator, Charge Nurse, or similar leadership role.
