Registered Respiratory Therapist Job Requirements

• Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential or respiratory therapist license or certification appropriate for practice in Iowa
• At least 1 year of respiratory therapy experience; hospital or acute-care experience preferred
• Ability to provide safe, effective respiratory care for patients with acute and chronic pulmonary conditions
• Strong patient assessment, communication, clinical judgment, and electronic documentation skills
• Availability to work 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend, and one holiday
• Successful completion of required competency validation, license or certificate verification, and standard onboarding requirements

Respiratory Therapy Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor, and treat patients experiencing respiratory disorders and other pulmonary conditions
• Deliver respiratory therapy interventions in accordance with established clinical standards and individualized care plans
• Monitor patient response to respiratory treatments and communicate changes to the interdisciplinary care team
• Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain respiratory care equipment safely and effectively
• Document respiratory assessments, treatments, patient responses, and ongoing care accurately
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to support positive patient outcomes
• Provide patient and family education related to respiratory care, therapies, and equipment
