Emergency Department RN Job Details

• Specialty: Emergency Department Nursing
• Location: Norfolk, Virginia
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,020–$2,130
• Schedule: Night shifts, 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.
• Shift Duration: 12 hours
• Typical Hours: 36 hours per week when scheduled for a full-week assignment
• Assignment Duration: September 23, 2026–September 23, 2027
• Orientation: Must be available Monday through Friday
• Per Diem Requirement: Work at least one shift per month to remain compliant with the per diem pool

Emergency Department Registered Nurse Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Virginia
• At least 2 years of professional RN experience
• At least 1 recent year of Emergency Department or emergency room nursing experience
• Ability to provide safe, efficient, and compassionate care in a high-acuity environment
• Availability for 12-hour night shifts and required weekday orientation
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills

Emergency Department RN Responsibilities

• Assess, triage, and prioritize patients presenting with acute illnesses and injuries
• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans based on patient needs
• Administer medications and treatments safely while monitoring patient responses
• Recognize changes in patient condition and escalate concerns promptly
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support positive patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families regarding care, treatment, and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in accordance with professional nursing standards
